May 15th Small Schooling Show
|
|
On May 15 I entered a small local show and we compete at 4 times a year. I competed in 4 classes and there was about 10 riders in each class. We began the day as you would any other horse show. We groomed, saddled and headed to the warm up arena.
Our first class was Hunter Over Fences 2ft. Me & my horse Tomorrow's Promise enterd the ring and began our course. Earlyer that morning they had waterd the ring down so much there were big puddles of water. Promise does not like water as ALL! So we head to our first jump (a brush box) that has a huge puddle of water in front of as did the whole line. We head to it at a nice even colected canter then Promise stops! We've had a refusal (Promise rarely refuses jumps). Keep in mind that Promise has jumped all these jumps before so the refusal is because of 1 thing, the water.
We had to skip that line because of the water after 3 refusals. Thankfully it was a small show and the judge let us finish the course. He went around the other jumps perfectly (there was no water). I was very proud of him for going over the other jumps because he could have said he didn't want to do anything and have a hissy fit.
Our 2nd class went about the same. We were disqualified in both of those classes.
Our 3rd class was JR. equitation. The ring was halfway dry by this time, so Promise was perfect. We came out of that class with a 3rd place ribbon!
Our 4th class was JR. hunter under saddle. Promise was a perfect angel in this class too with perfect transitions and everything. We placed 4th in this class! I was very proud of him becuase we normally don't place in hunter classes.
Over all we had a very good day! |

Good job (I can't place in hunter classes usally eather) Your lucky that your pony just stopped my pony would have jumped over the puddle and the jump and Dreamer100 is right in tat they shouldn't allow puddles in the ring because the horse or pony might slip or fall from the footing

Thanks guys. Yeah Dreamer100 I agree. They said they are going to watch it next time. I have jumped in that same arena when it was raining. It has really good footing so most of the horses didn't slip. I think a few did though. Haha, Jeff that's what I'm hoping to do one day!!
