27 Charged in Huge Race Horse Doping Scandal
 By Winniefield Park   •   18th Apr 2020   •   174 views   •   0 comments

Twenty-seven people have been charged in a racehorse doping scandal that has international connections. After an FBI investigation, it was discovered veterinarians, top trainers including the trainer of last yearís Kentucky Derby contender, pharmacists and others, misbranded or compounded and administered drugs that aren't FDA approved, or approved for equine use. The drugs included pain killers, nerve blockers, and drugs to boost red blood cell counts. In combination with the numerous deaths at Santa Anita, and growing public awareness of the fate of racehorses, some view this as another blow that could bring down the sport of horse racing completely.
