The Columbus Mounted Police Unit
 By Winniefield Park   •   14th Jul 2019   •   572 views   •   0 comments

If youíve ever wondered how mounted police units desensitize their horses to working around crowds in stressful situations, the Columbus Mounted Police unit provides a glimpse into their training process.

Police horses need to face many loud noises, strange sights and unfamiliar situations. So desensitization is essential to allowing the horses to work effectively, and keep the rider, pedestrians and themselves safe. The benchmark: being able to ride the horse safely amongst baby carriages.
