Saying Goodbye To The Horses We Love [Video]

Saying goodbye to anyone whether it be an animal or human can be painful, and for all of us when we lose someone we deal with grief in different ways. No one person will express there sadness in the same way.

Growing up I have lost a few loved ones but on August 22nd, 2013 I lost my best friend, Annie. For the past 5 years I have know that she could go at any time just due to her age, from the first week we rescued her I was sure she wasn't going to make it, but shocking us all she pulled threw and started gaining weight. She turned into more that we could of asked for from our first horse. We may of saved her, but she saved me. She gave me friendship and showed me the path I wanted to take in my life. On her last day she couldn't get up, she wasn't strong enough, so my parents had called the veterinarian. At one point she fell and she was positioned awkwardly in the pasture so they had to roll her. Even with assistance she wasn't able to get up. With that the vet determined that even if she could get up she would likely just go down again and probably hurt herself. She was euthanized and it was one of the hardest days of my life, although I was thankful to be there in her final moments.

One of the ways I have learned to cope with death is by making a slideshow or a video of all the memories I have had with the them. So I can think back to all the amazing times we have spent together and all that we have accomplished together. This is how I am going to remember my first horse, my best friend, my 4-legged therapist.

Soo sorry about that. I've lost a very special friend to a car. My dog Zoey got run over one day. I didn't even get to see her go. You got lucky, you could at least see her before she passed. I didn't. But remember this: they ain't gone until you believe their really gone. You'll see them again soon. You may not realize it, but you'll see her soon. Listen to the song Ill see you again by Carrie underwood.
