Polo The Weirdo has been a regular contributor on Ponybox.com for many years. Her history of stunts on horseback, such as bareback and backwards jumping are nothing shy of amazing! This article displays a highlight collection of Polo The Weirdo moments that deserve a second look.
This video shows myself and my Polo horse simply being ourselves and having a great time! Everything in this video is bareback, it is a complete no saddle zone! [Article: Jumping My Polo Horse Bareback]
The jump off felt fantastic, since there’s nothing Finola and I like better than roaring around a course of big jumps, testing our speed and taking tricky corners. In the end, Finola placed 2nd in that class, and I must say that I was overjoyed to have my lovely little horse jumping like she should again! In fact, she went so well that I decided to enter her 1,25m in the next class. [Article: 18 - 19 September Dam 'n Dyke Horse Show]
The day of the cross country was dark and cold. Thick clouds covered the sky, and it was with freezing hands that I groomed Bronze that morning. The cross country was not on the champs site, but at a racecourse nearby – meaning that Bronze had to take a trip in the box to get there. [Article: National Junior Championships]
This proves my hypothesis: The event rider is crazy. End of story. And this article serves to share the strange quirks of one such crazy eventer. These are the moments of insanity that we event riders go through on a daily basis. Don’t deny it – I know I’m not the only one! [Article: The Nature of the Crazy Eventer]
An ace called Olop (‘Polo’ backwards, if you’ve yet to work it out). Or Polo, if you prefer. For a long time, Olop has been my ‘fun horse’. She is too intelligent, and far too mareish for a competition horse. She simply doesn’t want to compete – so she doesn’t – and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. But I love her far too much to let her go, so I couldn’t care less if she competes or not. The bond we share is worth more than a thousand competition wins, and I think I can safely say that I trust that little mare with my life. She’s always got my back, and she’s always game for whatever crazy new scheme I came up with. [Article: Jumping Backwards]
if you don’t focus on the ditch, then your horse won’t, either. You are supposed to clear the pole, not the ditch, so focus on that pole and don’t look down. [Article: Cross Country 101]
