I remember being one of the people wondering why anyone would own a small pony or miniature horse, until the day I came to own Willy Wonka. After my car accident that left me paralyzed I was having a difficult time at school, one friend I had named Jessica was in almost all of my classes so she was there to help me when ever I needed it. If I grew tired of pushing my wheelchair she would do it for me, or if I had a questions she would be there. Jessica became a really close friend to me during my senior year of high school.
On January 23rd, 2011 the impossible struck our town again. Another car accident. The cause is unknown, but Jessica was driving her Ford truck and went off the road and stuck a telephone poll. She died on the scene. If you have ever lost a friend then you can understand how devastating it can be. Going to school the next day was the hardest thing I have ever done since my own accident.
A few months later I saw some strange posts on Facebook where my step mom was talking to Jessica's mom. They were discussing a miniature horse, but at the time I thought nothing of it. A week before I graduated I was taken to see this mini and he was given to me as a graduation present. He was a fluffy little gray with a stocky body. Fortunately, he didn't seem to even care about my wheelchair. We call him Willy Wonka and eventually I want to use him for driving. Willy Wonka has defiantly been very therapeutic to me and I have learned so much from him. I love this little bratty pony!
Wow. Thanks for making me cry. I'm so sorry about your friend. I've been there, I know how devasting it is. I've been looking at your photos of Willy Wonka for a while now. He's a cutie. Thanks for sharing his story with us. Wish it didn't have such a sad note in it. Keep us updated on your progress with the driving and Willy Wonka. I'd read those articles.

It's amazing how something so tragic could bring about something so lovely. I'm terribly sorry for your loss though. I hope you and Willy Wonka have many happy year to come :)

I think WIlly was exactly what you needed, something to love like a little brother. You two are adorable together. Keep us updated on how you two are doing!
