At some point your going to fall off your horse. Hopefully you can look back and laugh at yourself later.
I myself know the feeling of embarrassment! My best friend came to see me ride and I really wanted to impress her. I warmed up my pony Candy and then tried to canter down the long side of the ring. I was a beginner so I never cantered before, but I was showing off so I tried anyway. I got into trouble and flew off my still cantering pony! I had a scar up my arm for months afterwards, but I laughed at myself afterwards.
I don't know about anyone else... But I don't laugh when I fall off... It hurts. And I choose not to laugh because, I don't know. I just don't find it something to laugh about... Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't I'm just saying, I don't.

I agree, you always need to get back on the horse, never let it wear down your confidence, if I had a horse I would never let a fall ruin my riding ability (until then though) adorable pony though!

Lol, one of my falls was almost identical to this one. Though I had been riding for almost six years and my horse was just walking, so I really have no excuse. xD
I'm glad you were okay!

It doesn't look like you were trying to canter her, it just looks like she spooked! Hope you got back on after :) Your pony is very good, she waits for you when you fall off, not just cantering away haha :P

Ow! Least your pony actually waited for you, unlike most of the ponies I and others have fallen off at my riding school *glares at two certain cheeky ponies who went galloping around the school when their riders fell of*. Actually, the pony that I first fell off was an absolute sweet heart and stood still as soon as I fell.
Once I fell of a pony from walk. Ah, that was fun (not). Basicaly, we had just walked into the school, when he spooked at some ribbon that was tide around the edge, and I promtly fell off, about one minute after mounting. Looking back, it was hilarious.

I did the same thing once! Only I was in a western saddle. I had no helmet on, and it hurt so much, but I was laughing so hard! Worse was that i was texting wehn i fell off and my horse didn't stay there, he bolted back to the barn, so i had to face other people, I couldn't just act like nothing happened.

You are brave to try cantering when you are a beginner. LOL!
Yes, you either laugh or cry so it is better to laugh.
Glad you were not seriously hurt though.

Is that you in the video? It says falling off Magic, but you said it was Candy...and you weren't trying to canter at all. Just curious, or if you just posted the video to go with your story..

On 22 August 2010 I attended a small practice jumping show. After entering my young horse, Moonfire, in the 60cm and 70cm class I took him home to fetch my brilliant little pony, Tempest, for a friend of mine to ride. The theory b ...

What do you do if you fall off your horse? Why, you get right back on! We’ve always heard this advice and have probably followed it after an unscheduled dismount. But, is it good advice? ...
