My Arapalossa Named Tex
|
|
When I started on Ponybox I didn't own a horse, but as you could guess, I really wanted one. The barn I was at at the time did shows in the summer and I would help. One summer I saw this one horse named Tex. He was an Arapaloosa, an Arabian and Appaloosa mix. I fell in love.
That Christmas, my parents gave him to me as a present. I loved that horse. We moved to the barn so I wouldn't have to drive an hour to see him. When we got him there we put him in a stall and everyone loved him. Since Tex was my first horse I didn't know much, but I do know that there was some problems with him. One, he didn't like people touching his hooves. Two, he wouldn't pick up his left lead and since he never picked it up I didn't think twice about that.
The farrier hated him so much that last time he got shod, Tex was on the ground hobbled and ended up with rope burns all over his body. My friend at the barn was the one to witness this, my mom and I didn't even know he was going to get new shoes that day. Needless to say, we moved barns.
When we moved to the barn that I've been at for 2 years, we learned that Tex couldn't jump sice he had hip problems. This also explains him not picking his lead up. This was bad news for me since I wanted to jump really bad. Because of this, unless he got surgery, he would have to be sold. We decided that we couldn't pay for the surgery and had to do the inevitable: sell my beloved first horse, Tex.
He was finally sold after almost a year of being for sale and is now living happily as a trail horse in Vermont. In December I got a new paint horse named Jazz and we can can jump 2 foot 3.

Sad about Tex, but your new Paint is pretty also. I would like to hear more about Jazz later.
