Ponybox LLC is still on track to release the first world ranking of horses.
How will it work? The new equestrian ranking website we are developing will allow you to create a profile for your real horse including show results and other data. Your horse will then be ranked with all horses throughout the world and as you compete throughout the year you can monitor your performance against others worldwide. The algorithm we have developed will rank all horses as a group no matter what discipline you ride.
We are still on track for a late July release. The new website is currently in alpha testing with beta testing set to begin the first week of July. The first people to be notified when the website goes live will be the Ponybox newsletter members. If you want to be the first to be notified make sure you are on the Ponybox newsletter email list.
On our last update of the ranking system we discussed our initial intentions to also include an estimated value for your horse. We later shot down this idea due to the complexity of estimating values since pedigree, breed supply, conformation, training and a multitude of other factors all contribute to the monetary value of a horse. After further consideration and a few emails from some of our members we once again feel estimating horse values using a computer generated algorithm may not be as difficult and unrealistic as we thought. The initial release of the website will not include estimated horse values, but we are seriously considering adding this element to the site in the near future. If you are an expert in equestrian pedigree and horse valuation we would love to hear from you. |

I like Happy's idea of ranking riders. That would be pretty cool!
Question: There is different levels of shows such as quarter horse worlds and a small local horse show. Do higher levels of shows affect a horse rank differently than small shows? Is there different levels of showing on the website?
I guess what I'm saying is that if you get 5th at Quarter Horse worlds and 1st at a small local show, wouldn't the Quarter horse worlds mean more than the small local show?
Question #2: Are you going to consider the amount of people in a class? Example 1st out of 15... or 1st and you are the only rider.

@Fantasy Farms, great questions. Yes, the type of show will make a difference. A local horse show will not be weighted as high as a state show. Concerning your 2nd question, the number of entries in a show also effects the weight of the show. When you enter your show results you are asked a series of questions that help determine the validity of your entry and also the weight of the entry. The website then begins to build a profile of you over time to help determine the accuracy of your entries.

This is Fab. Especially as I compete a lot. But I have a few questions.
How many Horses are you allowed on this thing?
What if people lie about their results?
When do you start the results, do you start it form then or do you put in the years results including Jan, feb and stuff?
Thanks

@holls, there is no limit to the number of horses to be ranked. We have addressed the issue of members lying about their results and have included a lot of safeguards to keep the ranking system as accurate as possible. Concerning when to start entering your results, you can enter old results as far back as you like for your horse.
