this is Skitchy, shes a 4 year old morgan mare that has recently been rescued from a herd of 100+ horses. they were neglected and abandoned left for fend for themselves an a small paddock. there were many horses who passed for disease, injury or old age and were just left in the field. a rescue agency seised these horses and were set to take care of them, with so many ferral horses they were left to blow dart them for their regular vet visits. this left many horses terrified of people, Skitchy being one of them. we rescued 7 of them, 3 foals, and 4 four year olds. as expected the foals were rehomed through us quickly to their forever home so they can grow up like normal horses not needing to fear when their next meal where come. 2 of the four year olds were trained over the past year as sold to their forever home as riding horses.
that left two horses whos development through training was stunted because you could not touch them. when your hand grased their skin the acted as if you electrocuted them. after 6 months a halter finally got put on skitchy. we took their training only as fast as they wanted to. we used positive reinforcement to encourage them to try. its been a full year and a half now and we sat on skitchy for the first time. it was a huge moment but now we feel skitchy is like a normal horse. it will take a while before she is rehomed because we want her to find the right people. people who wont push her and will appreciate all her quirks.
her name was skitchy because of how skitchy she was around people. her registered name is a Work Of Art because we knew to sell her she couldnt keep her name. no one wants to buy a skitchy horse no matter how good she is now. so skitch sounds like sketch and we just felt like a work of art just suited her. her journey will continue and if poeple are interested i can share her adventures as she progresses.

Aw that's lovely. So glad to hear you found a nice home for her. Hopefully she has a bright future now. =)
Beautiful work of art too, she looked like a cutie!
