Mixture never hurts. I never get very lucky with the perfect naturals and then when I do get the perfect one the temptation to super it happens xD.

I started out throwing all the mods and items on my foundies and early foals to get started. Now, for the most part, I'm just keeping mine natural.
Natural are good to use as a goal, y'know? To get your natural lines jumping higher. Rather than boosting with items.

Briseno- I also agree with you that it's hard to get good stat and high DNA naturally. I think one has to decide if they want to play to be best of the best, or play to just play for the fun of it. I used to play for the fun when I first started and got caught up in being on the top. Now I think I want to get back to the joy of breeding to improve my horses but not focus so much on having to be the top.

I've found it hard to have just natural horses. I don't know if it's just me but I have horrible luck with stats like worse than I ever remember (unless you breed to a super) and it's quite discouraging when you breed x2 all 10s numerous times and they give you 34, 35, 36 and 37 stated horses. It's also proved challenging to get at 13+ active DNA most of the time mine come out 10/11 Active sometimes 12A but lots of 9A.
It just feels like you have to use items to get your horse up to a sub par level.
I'm not a fan of charmed itemed horses (with the except of supers though) just because I feel like a 97" charmed horse isn't as impressed as a 95-96" regular itemed horse or a 94/95" natural. Charms are too random it doesn't always feel the horse merits the jump and obviously offspring doesn't inherit the charm ability so no point imo.

Valrorosso- Good point. I agree completely. It's also a bit cheaper not using items. I used to do a mix, but now, we'll you get why asking. Haha!
Bepaling- I used to do that myself and may do that again, not totally sure.

I prefer natural. I'll have the odd itemed one now and then, usually if I crossbreed to bring in new lines.
But I've always preferred naturals even when items were first released. =)
