cues for the horse are basically the same - if horse is trained to rein western - reins go in one hand about 8 inches above the mane. Left - rein against right side of neck - turn right - rein against left side of neck. Whoa! pull back lightly. Keep reins a little loose, no direct contact

Left rein against left side of neck makes the horse go right. Right rein against right side of neck makes horse go left. Tightness of rein/heaviness of contact on the mouth depends solely on the horse. You can keep the reins placed in the same place as English in reference to the withers/mane. Obv ride one handed.
