Hi ponybox,
so I have my horse at a barn that kind of works as a co-op
no money is made we pay for our feed/hay/grain/vet/farrier and take care of our own separate barns,
we have about 30 different barns with around 100 horses, I have my horse there with my sisters horse at the same barn,
we have to do volunteer hours and work bingos in order to stay and pay a yearly membership fee.
I have been debating boarding my horse 3 hours away from where I live because this is the only place for horses here,
and I'm the only one taking care of the horses all year round in +30 degree weather to -40 in the winter.
I'm there everyday for them as is expected from a horse owner but I'm currently being treated as a stable hand by my sister and the rest of my family giving me orders and looking down on me,
and expecting me to do the volunteer hours and still take care of the horses myself without any help,
I'm tired of seeing my sisters horse being neglected by her
(she rarely comes down and doesn't groom or spend time with her horse)
so what are your thoughts? what would you do? would you board or stay?
Thank you for taking the time to look at my situation, I'm sorry if its confusing its a different type of barn for sure
if you have any questions let me know I'm more then willing to answer just looking for some opinions, thanks again ponybox :)

I'd drop her. Go find a nice, quiet barn by where you live and move them there. It'll only get worse if you stay
Thank you for your opinions very much appreciated :)
I'm in contact with a stable, just sorting everything out now,
hopefully it all works out and we can move him soon.
Having a horse should be a fun experience. It's also not a cheap thing. Because of that, I say if you're not enjoying where you are, go find somewhere else. I've jumped around between four barns myself. If you find a nice place that's good for your horse and you enjoy it, go ahead!
Yeah I agree. I would have done this sooner,
the reason why I didn't is because the closest place is about 3 hours away so I won't see him very often maybe once a week if I'm lucky,
but it would be better for him,
he will be in a more quiet environment, its a pretty busy spot where were at right now.
Have you googled barns in your area? Sometimes there are small personal ones people advertise. Or maybe even just drive around and see if anyone has a personal place. I found a place like that once. It was at someone's home, their personal barn, but they were willing to let others board.
yeah I did a lot of hunting for barns before I moved here, the one I'm looking at is a small private barn (they are expanding and building an indoor though), I live in a industrial/oil town up north(canada) the closest city is about 4-5 hours and there's no boarding barns closer then the one I'm in contact with unfortunately
