Awsome. Now that that's over and done with, My name is Meghan.
The Horses that you will see in my About Me are Cody my previous children hunter. He has currently been sold, due to the fact that I am moving on to try to challenge myself more. My new mare is a 10 yr old Mare named Aspen. More on her soon!
Anywoo! More will be added as the days go on, feel free to message me and have a good day!
One thing you can say about me is that I have six legs. There are the two I use for walking, then the four legs I sometimes borrow, which are the four legs of a horse. I have dedicated so much of my life to being an equestrian, and it has shaped me personally into a respectful, responsible, and dedicated person.
When I tell someone I am an equestrian, I always get one of two reactions. The one I get most often is something along the lines of “It’s not really a sport, all you do is sit on the horse” or the person says how much they admire or enjoy horseback riding themselves. Those who do not think that horseback riding is a sport obviously don’t know what is at the core of all sports: the white hot desire to be the best, the thrill of the chase or challenge, the willingness to spend hours just getting ready, and the ultimate high of victory. The victory doesn’t even have to be winning a competition; it can simply be learning a new skill.
I’ve never been on any ‘team sports’ but being an equestrian one learns the same character values as well as the physical fitness required to utilize them, and even how to act as a team. A horse teaches one respect immediately, how to give it as well as how to receive it. When one asks a horse to do something, one can neither be too timid or too forceful. If one is too timid, then the horse will simply ignore the command. If one is too forceful, then the horse will gladly put you back in your place, which is usually on your butt in the dirt. The phrase “swallow your pride” fails to mention that you might also swallow a mouthful of dirt.
Since horse and rider are a team, there is a relationship built that helps in everyday life. Even if it appears that the rider is just ‘sitting’ or the horse is mindlessly obeying commands, it is just because the nonverbal communication between the two is not apparent to an outsider. If said outsider were to watch a horse and rider go over a set of jumps, they might reconsider. When a rider points a horse at a jump but just ‘sits’ on the horse, the mistake is very obvious when the horse goes over the jump but the rider does not. Horses teach trust. To be successful at being an equestrian, you have to trust yourself and the horse. Just like all obstacles in life, you have to have the belief that you will get over it. When I think of all of the lessons in life that I have learned from riding, I consider what influential teachers horses are, even if they don’t even speak English. I would not be able to value an education had I not learned the respect, responsibility, and general hard work it takes to be around horses and to truly be an equestrian. You have to earn your extra four legs, just like everything else in life: you can’t just sit around waiting for a free ride.

In my opinion, a horse is the animal to have. Eleven-hundred pounds of raw muscle, power, grace, and sweat between your legs - it's something you just can't get from a pet hamster. ~Author Unknown
If your horse says no, you either asked the wrong question, or asked the question wrong. ~Pat Parelli
A woman needs two animals - the horse of her dreams and a donkey to pay for it.
