This news article tells you about beginners for horse riders:
Tacking Up:
When you arrive to the stable of your choice, whoever you are riding will probably be tacked up. The stable hand will probably give you a leg up or you will mount on the mounting block. Always mount on the left of your horse or pony! When you get a it more experience, a bit more confident and stronger with horses, that’s when you learn to mount up pr >>

This is really good! I started making a list last year when I forgot to bring my saddle to a show XD
Back by popular demand Ponybox is posting another round of Ponybox Surfing Machines. This contest was run in the past and everyone really enjoyed it. It's a chance to see the setup other horse lovers are using to surf the internet. One lucky member last year had a view of the ocean from their bedroom computer.
Send us a picture of your computer desk with the Ponybox website showing and we will post it here. Don’t worr >>
I might have a chance at messiest. I'll move the mess from my living room to m bedroom! Or move my computer to the living room.
‘No foot no horse’ – that’s true, but ‘no back, no riding’. If your horse suddenly nips when you put the saddle on, starts bucking, or hunching its back when you get on, then there may be a problem with its back, and even minor back pain can make your horse irritable and not able to perform its best. That’s why taking good care of your horse’s back to prevent injuries, and keep your horse fit and flexible is so important. S >>
Great topic, and job well done. A lot of riders don't realize how delicate horse's backs really are. I'd also like to add that, if you ride western, you can put your horse's saddle on without a pad or blanket, and see if you can push down on the horn
Last year I attempted to advertise real boarding facilities for free on Ponybox. All that was required was to send in a tee-shirt with the facility name and I would take a picture of me wearing the shirt and post it on Ponybox. The reason for doing this was to allow Ponybox members to support and promote their boarding facility on Ponybox. I though it would be a great idea since we get thousands of horse lovers coming to Po >>
Makes me wish my iris farm was ready for business. Oh well. Maybe someday.
Adopting a rescue horse is a wonderful, noble thing to do, but a rescue's road to recovery is not always easy. Before taking in a rescue horse, prepare yourself. You will need more resources for a rescue than for a regular horse. This horse will need more food, training, and the like than the every-day-run-of-the-mill horse. A rescue horse will also cost more money. Your new horse will need your love, energy, care, and ti >>
Don't forget to mention how vital vet and farrier involvement can be. As for picking a horse carefully, I lucked out-my parents got me a rescue as a complete surprise, and it jsut so happened we get along quite well. Usually xD
I have been throwing around the idea of starting a newsletter for the past year and have finally decided to go for it. This newsletter will be exclusive to the first 500 signups and I will then remove the signup form from the site.
In this newsletter I will be revealing many of the secrets and inner workings of Ponybox with articles images and videos of life behind the scenes. Not only will you learn about us and how we k >>

If you’ve ever seen an acrobatics show, you know what it’s like to sit in the audience and be blown away by all of the amazing, seemingly impossible stunts that the performers can do. But no horse-lover has ever really seen a show until they’ve seen Cavalia - acrobatics with horses.
Cavalia is a group of more than sixty horses and forty-five humans that travel the world performing for audiences of horse-lovers and art-lover >>
Cavalia is in a city near me right now, but I can't go. I want to go soo bad. :(
Every girl wants a horse at one point in their lives, and when I was eight, I was lucky enough to get one. He was a 28 year old bay gelding, named Bay. We bought him with the name, and never changed it. We liked it, and we are not sure why. It just fit the old' guy.
I never had thought of using him in shows, and we never did. He was a cow chaser, and that was his favorite activity. In the third picture, you can tell how exc >>
I'm so sorry about Bay :( It's sounds like you had great times with him and he looks absolutley gorgeous! This article is really good, beautifully written. :)
How to paint clouds with gimp.
1. Create an empty canvas. Fill it with a good sky colour, a sort of average blue will do. (see picture one at the bottom)
2.Use the dodge tool (or pick your own colors) to vary the shades. You will need atleast three different shades. I would recommend starting with the lightest blue at the bottom, and working up from there.
3.Smudge, I know we all love doing this, I would use a larger >>
I will never forget the day my Miniature mare Chardonnay had her first foal.
It was a Sunday morning around 10:00 am. My family was just sitting down for brunch when my brother (A non-horse person) came into the house stating "Mom, Your horse is laying on the ground with her legs in the air!". At that moment me and my mother knew...The foal was coming! We jumped to our feet and gathered the supplies we might need and took off >>
Oh my. They are too adorable. I love little ponies like that. :)
Some people say that horses kept on full livery never form strong ties with their owners. As an owner of a horse on full livery, I am writing this story in defense of all of us busy people who strive to provide the best accommodation for their horses.
I have always viewed and treated my horse as an individual. Always considered his point of view, always allowed him to express his feelings. After all, my horse is my friend, >>
I board my mare, too. My busy life forces me to only see her once a week, but we still have a strong connection! :) Great article, congrats on getting it published!!!
Most equestrians in today's world ride in saddles. Saddles are an essential part of horseback riding, and therefore it is important to buy a saddle that fits your horse properly.
Because I use only English saddles, those are the ones about which I will be instructing you today. Here is a list of things to look for when buying a saddle online.
I have listed some things to look for. These are not everything you'll need >>
Most horse lovers know all about three day eventing, many have tried it or have their own ambitions to compete in the Olympics or at major events like Badminton or Kentucky. It’s a great test of horse and rider – do you have the control for dressage, the courage and fitness for cross country, and the precision for show jumping? Not many horses and riders can excel in all three events, that’s for sure. But let’s make it a li >>
Cool and very interesting! I would love to try one day! Amazing! But the expense part is kind of scary.
Photoshop Elements 8 is one of the most advanced programs involved with graphic art. It has multiple filters, brushes, options and different tools – making it amazingly easy to touch up that photo, or create that animation, or make that next masterpiece.
I’ve used Elements 8 for 3 months now. I use a tablet – and it works especially well with that, no hassles at all. I’ve noticed with various graphic programs that the tabl >>
Thanks, you three! =D Adobe has the most amazing products, they're reliable when it comes to purchasing online as well. =D
Around a year ago, when I switched barns, I fell in love. Not with a horse but a saddle. I soon found out that it was a DK. This saddle was incredible! The leather was soft and it fit my horse perfectly! It improved my seat dramatically, and helped me become a better rider.
The DK saddle was called The Liberty, a very nice, beautifully crafted jumping saddle. It's panels were filled with air instead of foam or wool, and >>
I love my DK. Not a lot of people understand, a horse is not symetrical. They are asymetrical animals. Which means a tree that is the same on both sides does not fit the horse. Horses have one shoulder further forward than the other, one hip higher t
I own one of, what I think, is the best breeds of dog in the world. Dogs? What does that have to do with Ponybox? Nothing. Dogs are a big part of my life though because I cannot afford to keep a horse. So the breed I am going to tell you about is one of the fastest dogs in the canine world, the greyhound.
Greyhounds? Does that sound familiar? These dogs are the dogs that race. Recently, 2 racing tracks have been closed down >>
My friends dog was super friendly. A little nervous, but she had been abused. She was even missing a toe. She was from a track in Ireland. But she was smart. Learned sit, lay down and play dead. Well my friend would just say BANG and she would hit th
Welcome to my first lesson in digital art! Today we are going to work on the basics of digital art as well as getting started in our painting.
My view of digital art:
First of all, a digital painting and a lineart are completely different things. A lineart is where you take a brush and draw the outline of the horse, adding details as needed, like the nostril, the eye, muscles, etc. Sometimes it is just the frame of the ho >>
Thanks guys! HuntJumper. It's all a matter of practice and skill. :) Hopefully I'll get part 2 out this week. :)
Almost every horse racing fanatic and even people who don’t follow the sport, has heard of the immortal racehorse Secretariat.
Secretariat became America’s superhorse in 1973. It was in that year that he won the first leg of the Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby. Battling down the stretch against rival Sham, Secretariat pulled away by 2 lengths.
In the Preakness, without warning to his rider, Secretariat, on his own >>
My mom got to meet this horse! She has a photo of her patting him in the '70s! Our family's brush with fame. LOL §:) I love horseracing and I'm soooo going to see this movie!
